2018: Life+Style Goals and Improvements

Hey y’all, happy new year!

I’m not a “new year, new me” person but I’m all about improving. It’s been about a year since I’ve knowingly stopped eating meat and this year I’m striving to improve my awareness. I’m also implementing more natural products into my lifestyle. I’ll hopefully be doing more reviews of the natural products I try. I’m not trying to sway anyone to my way of life, but maybe I can answer questions or ease the skepticism of anyone who may be on the fence.

One of the things I hope to accomplish this year is to visit more vegetarian/pescatarian/vegan friendly restaurants in Charleston. I’m all about trying new things, so this should be a fun goal to fulfill. This weekend I visited the new location of one of my favorite places–Dellz on the Macon! Dellz is family owned and operated and has some of the best food I’ve ever had. They serve up a great combination of good, healthy food with robust flavor. It’s feel good food with friends because it’s a small and cozy environment.

Ireana of XOXO, I. Joelle and I had a great meeting over their Dellz Nachos (with meatless meat crumbles).

This was her first time trying Dellz and I think I’ve got her addicted to their fresh, vegan chocolate chip cookies. Those cookies are honestly heaven on earth!

We also ran into the homie, KJ Kearney, who dropped some real business knowledge. This year needs to be more about coming together, finding, and securing all the bags we can. Shout out to KJ’s mom, Miss Karen, for also putting us on to some new ways to put ourselves out there!

Dellz on the Macon really is full of magic. It’s a melting pot of good food, good music, good people, and good vibes. Pay what you can and pay it forward–they’re all about putting good karma out into the universe. The Macon couldn’t have gained a better new gathering place.

What would this outing and this post be without outfit details? I finally got a chance to break out my new dress from the Tracee Ellis Ross for JC Penney collection! Amazing fit and quality and I’m so sad the collection isn’t permanent! My wardrobe needs more from Tracee!

What I’m Wearing: Aztec Print Jumpsuit

Hey y’all! Today I’m talking about this cute Aztec print jumpsuit that I picked up earlier this year at–you guessed it–Forever 21! This jumpsuit has spaghetti straps, a slightly defined waist, and a v-cut back. The best part about this jumpsuit is that it was $24.90! It’s perfect for a nice day out whether you’re just going to brunch, heading to work, or exploring your city. It’s pretty light weight, so it could withstand a hot and muggy day; and it’s flowy, so no static cling buzzkill feelings to worry about.

Since it has spaghetti straps, I wore a bandeau bra underneath and since I wore it to work I paired it with a light cardigan from the Loft. I wore my same Juicy Couture lariat and studs, along with my Alex&Ani bangles and my Pandora bangle. Want to close out your summer in a similar outfit? Check out these picks (all on SALE) from Charlotte Russe!

Quick Post

Hey y’all! I honestly have not a lot to say right now, I just want to take a quick moment to post last night’s outfit. I don’t get dressed up a lot to go out, so when I do I have to make the feeling last awhile LOL! I attended the Erotic Poetry show and I honestly felt over dressed. If you’ve ever seen pieces of fabric on hangers in clothing stores and wondered what they were for or how a person could possibly get into that I promise you I was in a room full of people who managed to figure it out.

My navy matelassé two piece midriff and midi skirt set is from (you guessed it) Forever 21. I bought it back in maybe February or March and though they were priced individually, it was maybe $25 at the most. The bag is Steve Madden via TJ Maxx and the shoes are from there too (I’ve had both for awhile).
Nothing fancy, but I liked it 🙂 Enjoy your Sunday!

What I’m Wearing: Stripes

Hey y’all! Today’s ootd features two of my favorite things: stripes and tank tops! Actually, it’s a racerback top buy it still falls into the tank top category. It’s a casual day for me and it’s still pretty hot so I figured I’d throw on some ankle jeans and an easy breezy top.

If you live in Charleston, then you know how tanks are essential. More than essential, they’re mandatory! Even when the temperature says it’s 80 degrees out, the humidity kicks it up to 95! The last thing you want are perspiration stains on your top when you’re strolling down King Street. It’s never a good look. Even your strongest antiperspirant can’t withstand Charleston summers; so it’s very important to have climate appropriate gear.

My red and white horizontal striped racerback tank gives a very nautical (another thing I love!) and a bit of a patriotic vibe. It’s lose fitting, which is great, but not so much so that it appears tent like. It stays close to the body and lays nicely. I paired it with a really nice and light shade of blue ankle jeans. Both the top (similar) and jeans are from Forever 21

With this outfit I tossed on my navy blue Toms, my Juicy Couture palm tree hoops (similar), Alex&Ani bangles, and my new Pandora bangle with palm tree charm!

What I’m Wearing: It’s My Birthday

Hey y’all! Okay, it’s actually more like what I wore. I intended to take pics of myself today–since it IS my birthday–but I had to attend the home going services of an amazing person and I just lost a lot of energy after that. It’s felt like days have just dragged out since she passed away and today I honestly had nothing to give after the service.

We lost someone whose smile and personality were just as big as her heart. It’s going to be hard not seeing her everyday, but she’s in a better place and for that we are thankful. She was a HUGE Dallas Cowboys fan, so we tried to coordinate our attire to that theme. I don’t have anything dressy in white, so I had to improvise.

Navy blue dolman sleeve boat neck top from GAP (similar)//Brown high waisted and belted pencil skirt from New York&Company (similar)

 Necklace from Express (similar)

Gold studs from Juicy Couture (similar)

 Bangles from Alex&Ani

Although this day was bittersweet, my coworkers didn’t forget about my birthday! I thought they would with everything going on around us, but I was truly surprised with what they did. They didn’t forget that my favorite color is pink and that I love animal prints, Hello Kitty, or Lilly Pulitzer! ☺️

Lilly Pulitzer jumbo agenda in All Nighter

There’s so much to be thankful for in this day that I honestly have no reason to be sad. I think I’m all out of sadness and I’m trying to replace it with gratefulness. Be grateful and give thanks for everything because it can all be gone in the blink of an eye.
